Site work and renovation of a water / sewer project in Toledo, Ohio. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

The City of Toledo DPW/Water Reclamation is accepting bids for a project that focuses exclusively on electrical system upgrades, including converting the existing DC belt drive systems to AC drives; complete replacement of the associated electrical wiring for each press, new terminal boxes, conduit systems and raceways around each press. The scope also includes restoration and painting of the PLC cabinets for Belt Filter Presses 1, 3 and 5. Vendor shall be responsible for ensuring full electrical compatibility between the new AllenBradley PowerFlex 525 VFDs and the AC motors provided by Alfa Laval. o Replicate the physical electrical architecture, conduit routing, and component layout of the previously upgraded Belt Filter Presses (BFPs) 2, 4, and 6. o Reuse and restore existing PLC cabinets, including surface restoration and industrial-grade painting as needed. o The vendor shall provide all labor required to electrically integrate the complete suite of process and safety switches, including Lack of Cake, Belt Misalignment, Belt Breakage, Trip Cords, and Hydraulic Unit Pressure switches. o Ensure seamless integration of electrical upgrades with mechanical systems managed by City personnel. o Minimize facility downtime through coordinated scheduling with mechanical work 15% Minority workforce Online Q&A Yes Q&A Deadline 07/01/2026 4:00 PM (EDT) Location: Bay View Water Reclamation Facility, 3900 North Summit St. #1, Toledo, OH 43611. The electrical contractor shall be responsible for the following: o Inspect existing PLC cabinets associated with the Belt Filter Presses for physical condition, corrosion, and painting/restoration needs. o Assess electrical infrastructure including panels, conduits, and control wiring. o Verify grounding, power isolation, and panel protection systems. Ensure compatibility of new AC drives with facility power systems and automation infrastructure. o Document any code compliance issues, obsolete components, or risks related to continued operation. o Purchase and install new Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 AC VFDs for BFPs 1, 3, and 5. Responsibilities include the removal of existing DC drive components/infrastructure, complete electrical installation along with shielded VFD-rated cabling, and the termination/configuration of new shaft-mount AC gearmotors (provided by Alfa Laval) including all thermal protection wiring. o Provide and install one (1) 24" x 36" x 8" stainless-steel terminal box for each press, mounted on a stainless-steel strut rack adjacent to the press. The terminal box shall serve as the central landing point for all press-mounted instrumentation, including wash water pump wiring and also terminals and wire duct for 480V motor and discrete control wiring. o Provide and install (3) 2" and (1) 1 1/2 " RGS conduits between the terminal box and the press control panel for BFP 1,3 and 5. o Provide stainless steel strut posts on 3-foot centers around each press to support PVC conduit. o Install Schedule 80 PVC conduit runs around each press to serve all control devices and motors. 480v control signals shall be routed in separate, dedicated raceways. Each switch and safety device shall have a dedicated conduit drop to the stainless-steel terminal box. o The electrical contractor is responsible for the complete electrical installation of the process safety and monitoring suite as defined: o No Cake sensors. o Belt Misalignment and Belt Breakage switches. o Emergency Trip Cords and Hydraulic Unit pressure switches and emergency stop push button. o Sludge Pressure switch (Contractor shall purchase/install (3) Allen Bradley Nema 4x Bulletin 836T pressure switch (Catalog NO. 836T-T251J). o Wash Water pressure switch (Contractor shall purchase/install (3) Allen Bradley Nema 4x Bulletin 836T pressure switch (Catalog NO. 836T-T253JX40). o Sludge pressure gauge (Contractor shall purchase/install (3) SSI Technologies Media Gauge Nema 4x; pressure range (0 - 100psi). o Wash Water Pump Pressure Gauge (Contractor shall purchase/install (3) SSI Technologies Media Gauge Nema 4x; pressure range (0 - 200psi). o New conduit runs are to mimic the ones for press 2,4 and 6 with the existing runs to be removed to avoid degradation of the wiring insulation. o The electrical contractor is responsible for all new electrical conduit/wiring from the existing hydraulic unit location to the new press mounted location and new hydraulic tubing, as required, to connect the new stand mount hydraulic unit. o Provide and install a new double-ended Allen Bradley Lifeline 4 pull cord emergency stop system for each press. o Restore and paint the existing PLC cabinet associated with each Belt Filter Press. Restoration shall include surface preparation, rust removal, primer, and application of industrial-grade paint. o Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and operational verification tests on all new wiring, terminations, and components. o Provide and install permanent, industrial-grade labels for all new and existing components inside the PLC cabinets for BFPs 1, 3, and 5. o Submit as-built drawings, wiring diagrams, and conduit layout documentation upon completion All questions regarding the plans and specifications must be in writing submitted through the PlanetBids website Q&A tab.
