The proposed pavilion structure was designed by architects Clark Caton Hintz in 2022 for the Paterson Museum Foundation through a grant from Passaic County. The purpose of this project is to provide engineering and archaeological professional services to complete the construction documents in compliance with National Park Service and State of New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office standards so that the City of Paterson may bid the project for construction. The concept pavilion is a 66x71-foot, one story, open-sided, stylized steel structure with a roof. The pavilion will cover and protect two historic Rogers locomotives that are currently open to the elements and degrading rapidly. Additionally, the pavilion will provide covered space for locomotive repair, interpretation and group tour meetings. The city-owned Rogers Erecting Shop is a key contributing property in the Great Falls National Historic Landmark District. The property is also within the boundaries of the Great Falls National Historical Park, established in 2009.
