Reference Number 0000428121 The Town of Nederland, in coordination with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), is seeking qualified firms to provide geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and inspection services for the Nederland Crosswalk and Street Improvements Project. The project occurs within the Town of Nederland, covering Highway 72 (2nd Street), Jackson Street, Jefferson Street, and 1st Street, and includes construction of new ADA-compliant sidewalks, crosswalk installations, new sidewalk segments, accessibility upgrades, and pavement improvements, all within existing CDOT right-of-way. The selected consultant will provide construction-phase geotechnical support and materials testing services such as construction materials testing and inspection (earthwork and subgrade evaluation, aggregate base course testing, hot mix asphalt and concrete testing), construction observation (on-call inspection during earthwork, pavement, and concrete placement, documentation of subgrade preparation, lift acceptance/rejection, field adjustments, and mitigation, monitoring of vegetation/topsoil removal, evaluation of subgrade conditions, and providing recommendations for unsuitable soils), laboratory testing in compliance with AASHTO, ASTM, and CDOT standards (soil classification, R-value confirmation, asphalt, and concrete testing), and documentation and reporting (field and test reports, non-conformance documentation, weekly summaries if requested, and a final materials certification package for CDOT). All work must comply with applicable CDOT requirements and specifications, and all personnel must hold required certifications. Minimum qualifications include relevant CDOT Local Agency project experience, ability to provide required materials testing, availability of certified technicians, access to an accredited laboratory, and experience in active roadway environments. Submittals must include firm overview, relevant experience, project team, approach, and lab capabilities. Selection criteria include CDOT project experience, staff certifications, understanding of requirements, past performance, and capacity. Submittals must be made through the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System (BidNet). Federal requirements apply, and the selected consultant must be eligible for federally funded work.
