This project consists of extending water main from Pressure Zone 5 (at the south end of Olympic Heights Rd) to Pressure Zone 3 (near W 32nd Street or Up Hill Both Ways Rd). The water main extension is approximately 2,500 feet. The Roosevelt Street Water Tower project (completed 2022) was designed to provide effective storage for both Pressure Zones 2 and 3 once future distribution improvements were complete. This project provides for the construction of a connection between Pressure Zone 5 (Olympic Heights Subdivision) and Pressure Zone 3 to effectively connect the two zones, as recommended by the Iowa DNR and as stated in the SRF funding commitment letter for the Roosevelt Street Water Tower construction project. A related project to complete the pressure zone connection is the Water Main Extension Central Ave (Pressure Zone 3 and 5 Connection) Project, which will allow full benefits of the Roosevelt Water Tower. A related project to complete the Booster Pump Station Central Ave (Pressure Zone 1 and 2 Connection) Project will allow an additional method to supply water from Pressure Zone 1 to Pressure Zones 2, 3, and The project is included in the City's 2027-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
