Demolition, site work and new construction of an educational facility in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the construction of a 161,800-square-foot, three-story above grade educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
This project consists of the construction of a new elementary school on the site of the existing Raymond C. Richer Elementary School, together with all associated site improvements and demolition of the existing school building. The proposed project consists of a three-story building comprised of 161,800 g.s.f., plus additional where the proposed building foundations are integrated into the sloping landscape. The project is envisioned as a multi-phased effort where the existing Richer Elementary School will remain operational throughout construction of the new building. The project will require significant planning and coordination of construction activities, school operations, site logistics, safety measures, and stakeholder communications. Due to the active school environment and limited available site area, construction staging and laydown operations will present logistical challenges. A second City-owned parcel located on Glen Street (Parcel 89-3C) will be made available for construction and/or school operational logistics, subject to applicable permitting requirements. The Construction Manager will be responsible for managing activities associated with this parcel, including restoration upon completion of the project and coordination with the Owner regarding operational impacts. The Construction Manager at Risk is anticipated to be selected in Fall 2026. Trade contractor bid packages are anticipated to be procured beginning in Summer 2027, with construction commencing in Fall 2027. Substantial completion of the new school building is anticipated by June 2029.
