The work consists of demolition, decommissioning, and site improvements at the former General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital and associated facilities. This includes complete removal of the hospital and clinic (B310), Central Utility Plant (B311), temporary helipad, fuel tanks, utilities, paving, communications infrastructure, and all related site features, along with abatement and disposal of asbestos-containing materials and other regulated materials. The project requires disconnection and capping of utilities, full debris removal, and restoration of the site, including backfilling and turf establishment. Extensive decommissioning activities are required for medical gas systems, low-voltage systems, HVAC systems, wastewater and laboratory systems, fire suppression systems, hydraulic elevators, and diesel fuel systems, including draining, purging, removal of equipment, and proper disposal of hazardous and regulated substances. Work also includes Phase 2 modifications to the Optical Fabrication Laboratory and Medical Warehouse, consisting of demolition of the west wall at the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing room, removal of all MEP equipment, capping of roof penetrations, and construction of a new exterior wall. Additional improvements include installation of an ADA-compliant entrance vestibule, a new egress corridor, and lightning protection tied to a ground loop system, while maintaining ongoing operations of the facility. Site improvements encompass grading, parking, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, wayfinding, video surveillance, storm drainage, and traffic management, with requirements to maintain parking capacity and ensure continuous safe pedestrian access during construction.
