Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Hickory, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 12,000-square-foot transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
To be considered for selection, the Engineering Firm shall be qualified and capable of providing the following services: Engineering Services provide design and architecture services of one 12,000 sq ft Hangar-in Common (HIC) at the Hickory Regional Airport. This facility would house a variety of jet aircraft (up to Citation Latitude/Challenger 300 size) with offices for corporate aviation industry companies and shops that could support aircraft operations and maintenance. A general floor plan and site layout would include hangar storage and maintenance areas, attached office and shops, powered rolling hangar doors, and a vehicle parking lot for hangar tenants and limited guests. The Airport expects design of the HIC to begin in the fall of 2026, with construction beginning early 2027, and completion by the end of 2027. While the anticipated project reflects current planning, this does not limit or determine the actual project to be undertaken by the city. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. Requests for proposals for design services is underway.
