Installation of a security gate along an existing access roadway located north of the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport airfield, west of the Industrial Park and east of the former Yellow Cedar community. The roadway is the sole access point to one of VIPA's raw material storage areas. The roadway is currently unsecured and has been subjected to extensive illegal dumping, including abandoned vehicles, vehicle parts, scrap materials, household waste, construction debris, vegetative debris , and other miscellaneous materials. Price and payment for the scope items shall be on a lump- sum basis and shall include full compensation for all labor, supervision, equipment, materials for gate fabrication and installation The work for which bids are invited consists of the following: 1. Installation of Security Gate Furnish and install one heavy-duty, galvanized steel double-swing security gate at the roadway entrance at a location approved by VIPA. The gate shall meet the following minimum requirements: o Six feet in height; o Twenty-two-foot total clear opening; o Two approximately equal gate leaves; o o o o Heavy-duty zinc coated galvanized steel frame; Zinc coated galvanized chain-link fabric or comparable approved infill; Heavy-duty zinc coated galvanized gate posts; Concrete gate-post foundations suitable for the gate size and existing site conditions; o Heavy-duty hinges, braces, latches, stops, and hold-open hardware; o Locking hardware suitable for use with a VIPA-supplied padlock; o o Gate leaves capable of opening fully without obstructing the adjacent public roadway; Positive stops to prevent uncontrolled gate movement; and Reflective markings on the gate and gate posts. The Contractor shall field-verify the gate location and existing conditions before fabrication. The gate shall be installed plumb, level, properly aligned, fully operational, and capable of being securely locked. All measurements and quantities provided by VIPA are indicative and are intended only to provide bidders with an understanding of the scope and scale of the work. All work shall comply with applicable federal and United States Virgin Islands laws, rules, codes, ordinances, environmental requirements, and safety regulations.
