Demolition and site work for a municipal facility in Ripton, Vermont. Completed plans call for the demolition of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
Provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and construction services necessary for building demolition and repair work at the Ripton Barracks facility. Work includes asbestos abatement, interior demolition, siding and trim replacement, electrical component replacement, installation of metal roofing, repair of roof truss cross bracing, exterior painting, and other miscellaneous building repair activities. Services shall be performed in accordance with the project specifications, drawings, and contract requirements to restore and improve the condition of the facility. PROJECT MAGNITUDE: between $100,000 and $250,000 QUESTIONS may be submitted via email to the Contracting Officer, Matthew (Matt) Killian, at matthew.killian@usda.gov, until 1300 EDT on 08/05/2026. Location: Ripton Barracks, 13 Silver Towers Road, Ripton, VT 05766. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. NORTH BARRACKS A. Asbestos Abatement (Accomplish prior to all other work) o The Contractor shall accomplish the abatement of the asbestos documented on the Hazardous Waste Inspection Report included in this contract. o The contractor shall apply, obtain and pay for all related permits and fees required for the abatement of the asbestos. o The contractor shall make all required notifications for the abatement of the asbestos (NESHAP) and provide documentation to COR prior to starting work. o The contractor shall ensure a certified asbestos contractor accomplishes the abatement and provides all required monitoring, testing and reports. All asbestos abatement work shall be in accordance with the State of Vermont Regulations for Asbestos Control. B. Select Interior Demolition (Post-Asbestos Abatement) Following completion of asbestos abatement, perform select interior demolition including but not limited to (the intent is to have interior open to exterior wall framing/siding and the roof rafters to that of the South Barracks): o Interior walls, doors, drywall, insulation, existing debris o Ceilings, ceiling tiles/hangers, framing, trim o Kitchen/bath fixtures, cabinets, counters, sink, refrigerator o On-demand water heater, heating units and lines Lighting and outlets back to the electrical panel . Plumbing lines and vents Chimney and roof penetrations o All protruding fasteners and misc. materials Remove and dispose of all materials off site at an approved landfill. C. Garage Door Replacement (4 Existing Doors) Remove and dispose of four (4) existing wood sectional overhead doors and associated tracks/hardware o Furnish and install four (4) new sectional overhead doors. o Install new tracks and hardware. Perform carpentry as needed to install doors and tracks. o Install per manufacturer specifications. D. Gutter and Downspout Removal o Remove and dispose of all roof gutters and downspouts. E. Window Removal o Remove all windows and trim (except upper windows on the north side of the building). o Infill window openings with wood framing to match existing framing to support new siding installation. F. Siding and Trim Replacement o Replace all existing siding with new T1-11 siding to match existing style. o Install new T1-11 siding over infilled windows, doors, and other areas as noted on the plans. o Replace the roof soffit and fascia boards on the north side of the building. Provide blocking as needed. Match existing. o Replace trim (corner trim and garage door trim) on south side of the building. Match existing. G. Pedestrian Doors Replacement o Replace the east and west pedestrian doors with new exterior fiberglass doors (no glass). o Replace the door trim around each door to match existing. o Match existing dimensions and colors. . Install latch guard and Forest Service Yale Lock deadbolt on each door. H. Metal Roofing Installation o Remove log and debris from roof. o Remove shingles and replace roof sheathing where log punctured the roof on the north side. o Install roof sheathing where penetrations are removed during demolition. Install new forest green metal roofing over existing shingles. See Product Data Sheets for material (or an approved equal). Roof panels shall run entire length of roof (no vertical joints). o Metal roofing to include new metal drip edge (all sides) and new ridge cap. Drip edge and ridge cap shall be compatible with new metal roofing (match roofing color). I. Penetration Patching & Utilities Capping o Patch all exterior wall and roof penetrations with materials matching existing o Seal to ensure watertight installation o o Cut and cap all lines and drains below concrete floor. Fill with clean gravel. Contractor shall obtain COR approval prior to installation of all materials. J. Exterior Painting o Paint all new and existing wood siding and trim. Match existing color. L. Electrical Line/Panel Relocation o Relocate electrical panel to inside of west exterior wall. o Relocate electric lines protruding through the roof to the exterior wall to support panel relocation. o Install new penetrations, lines, and hardware as required to support relocation. Contractor shall coordinate with local power company and pay any required fees associated with relocation of lines. o Accomplish modifications to electrical panel as needed to support relocation. K. Electrical Outlets Installation o Install new duplex outlets in the following locations (at 18-inches A.F.F.) Adjacent to each pedestrian door (2 total) o On the framing between each garage door (5 total) o Four evenly spaced along the north wall of the (4 total) o One in the center of each east & west wall (2 total) Install new MC cable/wire for each outlet from the panel . Modify panel as required. o Install per manufacturer specifications and code o See Product Data Sheets for material (or an approved equal). L. Emergency Lights/Exit Signs Installation o Install in new emergency light/exist sign above each pedestrian doors (2 total). o Install new MC cable/wire for each light/sign. o . Install in accordance with manufacturers specifications and code. See Product Data Sheets for material (or an approved equal). M. Lighting Replacement o Remove all interior light fixtures and wiring o Install ten (10) new fixtures, two on each roof truss spaced at 1/3 points o Install new MC cable from the panel to the lighting. Modify panel as required. o Install three-way light switches at each pedestrian door o Install LED bulbs o See Product Data Sheets for material (or an approved equal). SOUTH BARRACKS A. Pedestrian Doors - South Building o Replace the west pedestrian door with new exterior fiberglass doors (no glass). o Remove east pedestrian door and trim. Replace with framing and siding. o Replace the door trim around each door to match existing. o Match existing dimensions and colors. o Install latch guard and Forest Service Yale Lock deadbolt on new west door and existing north door. K. Window Removal o Remove all windows and trim (except small windows on north side of the building). o Remove trim and infill plywood from windows and chimney previously removed. o Infill window openings with wood framing to match existing framing to support new siding installation. B. Siding and Trim Replacement o Replace all existing siding with new T1-11 siding to match existing style. o Install new T1-11 siding over infilled windows and doors. C. Removal of Interior Storage Room (southwest corner) o Remove wood framed storage room down to exterior walls (including ceiling of room) o Cut and cap existing water lines below grade. Fill hole with clean gravel o Remove and dispose of all plumbing lines, fixtures and debris D. Roof Truss Cross Brace Repair o Replace damaged diagonal roof truss cross brace at the wall connection. o Match existing materials and hardware. E. Electrical Outlets Installation o Install new duplex outlets in the following locations (at 18-inches A.F.F.
