Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in West Bend, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The Glacier Lakefront Development Project (Project) is upgrading park facilities and public access to the Friess Lake. Currently, the road going to the lower parking lot is deteriorating and is on a steep slope. The parking lot also needs to be repaved. There is a concrete sidewalk that leads down the steep slope from the parking lot to the dock and currently there is erosion occurring along the sidewalk. The dock is currently 5.5 feet wide by 45 feet long limiting the amount of recreation that occurs. The goals of the project include 1) improving public access for recreation, 2) repairing stormwater infrastructure using nature-based solutions to improve water quality, and 3) restoring and stabilizing the shoreline with native vegetation. The Project entails placement of an improved access drive, parking lot, ADA accessible elevated boardwalk, slope reinforcement, bioretention basin, shoreline planting, permanent dock for recreational water access, and a pit toilet. The project addresses untreated stormwater runoff that currently flows into Friess Lake. Stormwater will be directed into a bioretention basin and the storm drains will be relocated to outlet there instead of to the lake. The project also addresses aging facilities. The road and parking lot will be redone to include porous pavement to promote infiltration, permanent bathroom facilities will be added, and access to the dock will now be ADA accessible. The proposed dock is 60 feet wide by 18 feet long with three bumpers feeding off the main dock including a bumper that is 60 feet long for recreational fishing. The new proposed dock will be about 1,500 square feet to provide ample space for multiple recreationalists and uses. This Project will largely improve recreational opportunities for the public as well as improve water quality by treating stormwater runoff for park roads and parking lots. The project is included in the County 2026 - 2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of July 28,2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
