Construction of the OE Marine Center at Oxnard College. Reconfiguration of the current bookstore to create new classrooms, an aquarium and supporting instructional spaces. Work includes structural improvements, new metal stud walls, selective cutting and patching of existing concrete slabs, modifications to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to accommodate the new layout and new fire alarm systems. The project consists of non-structural alterations to one area of an existing occupantional education building, area d (oe-d). The alterations will reduce the size of the existing bookstore and create new classrooms, an aquarium, and support spaces. The work includes non -structural cold-formed metal stud walls, cutting/patching of existing concrete slabs, and mep alterations to serve the new spaces. The fire alarm system will be replaced in the oe building areas a, b, c and d. There is no new floor area in the project. The aquarium and its equipment is owned and operated by the college for use in its marine biology curriculum. The proposed scope of work does not require rehabilitation per cac 4-309 (c). The effective seismic weight is not increased more than ten percent. There is no scope that reduces the lateral force resisting capacity of the building. Bonds: 10% Bid Bond.
