Site work and paving for a road / highway in Bethlehem, Connecticut. Completed plans call civil work for a road / highway.
Reclaim, grade, and repave two sections of Magnolia Hill Road. Bids shall be submitted for two sections of the East end of Magnolia Hill Road as follows: Section 1. From intersection of Hard Hill Road, South , approximately 4,682 feet in length to the Watertown town line. Section 2. From the new culvert located near 283 Magnolia Hill Road approximately 2,960 feet in length to the Watertown town line. Provide services to reclaim, grade and pave these sections approximately 20' wide for the lengths of Magnolia Hill Road specified above in Bethlehem. The contractor is responsible for providing supervision and coordination services and supply all materials, labor, tools , equipment, and incidentals to perform reclamation, grading, and paving in accordance with the following Scope of Work and Bid Specifications. This work shall be performed on the sections of Magnolia Hill Road specified above in the Town of Bethlehem, in accordance with State of Connecticut DOT specifications for Roads, Bridges and Incidental Construction. The successful bidder must furnish the current Certificate of Insurance. No work shall commence until a meeting for scheduling has been agreed upon between the contractor and the Town of Bethlehem. 1. Reclaiming, Grading and Compacting approximately 93,640 Square Feet in Section 1 and approximately 59,200 Square feet in Section 2. (Contractor shall field determine this amount based on their own measurements.) Every effort will be made to keep the final grade similar. Road surface to rest for a period of one week up to but not past two weeks to allow for settling and compaction prior to final grading and paving. The contractor will perform fine grading and site preparation for vibratory rolling and paving. Contractors shall compact the surface using a vibratory roller (10-12 ton). Road Surface will consist of 2 courses: (Contractor shall determine this amount based on their own measurements.) 1 1/2" Binder course of HMA .5 Superpave Asphalt o 1 1/2" Wearing course of HMA .375 Superpave Asphalt All thickness of paving is for post compaction and shall be field verified. 3. Driveway aprons to be restored to new road surface level . Driveway aprons shall be cut to a minimum of 3' back from new road edge and up to the discretion of the contractor and the width of the current apron. (Apron installation method will be determined by the public works director and contractor.) 4. Any old Curbing is to be removed by contractor. Approximately 2,036 ft. to be reinstalled by contractor using 6" regular curbing in Section 1 , and 140 ft. in Section 2.
