Due date for interpretations for this bid shall be August 21 , 2026, by 5:00 p.m. he Cherokee Nation is seeking qualified land-management contractors to perform brush thinning and Eastern Red Cedar removal on approximately 200 acres of the Sequoyah Hunting Preserve. The primary objective of this project is the preservation of all oldgrowth hardwoods and mature native tree species. No hardwood removal is permitted. Contractors shall carry out understory thinning while ensuring zero removal or damage to old-growth hardwood trees . Requirements: Thin understory brush only. Remove Eastern Red Cedar trees of all sizes while ensuring zero disturbance or removal of hardwood species. No old-growth hardwoods or mature native hardwoods may be cut, removed, damaged, or disturbed. Contractors shall implement hardwood-protection measures including pre-marking and flagging all mature hardwoods; avoiding equipment operation within root-sensitive zones; and using cutting and mulching methods that do not impact hardwood trunks. Brush and cedar material may be mulched onsite or transported offsite. Work areas must be left free of debris and without impact to standing hardwoods. Contractors must walk through the project area and flag all hardwood trees prior to initiating work, A map with GPS coordinates will be provided once the vendor has been selected.
