Site work for a water / sewer project in Norfolk, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Perform maintenance dredging of the Thimble Shoal Channel at Norfolk Harbor, Hampton Roads, Virginia. The base work consists of dredging approximately 1,350,000 cubic yards of maintenance material from the west channel segment to a required depth of minus 57 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. All dredged material from the base work will be transported and placed at the Dam Neck Ocean Disposal Site (DNODS). The optional work consists of dredging approximately 220,000 cubic yards of maintenance material from the east channel segment to a required depth of minus 56 feet MLLW with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. Approximately 214,000 cubic yards of dredged material will be placed at DNODS, and approximately 6,000 cubic yards will be placed at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area by direct hydraulic pump-off. Dredging may be performed using a mechanical dredge or hopper dredge. The work includes compliance with special requirements and precautions for dredging activities in the vicinity of protected cultural resources. Location: Thimble Shoal Channel, Norfolk Harbor, Hampton Roads, Virginia; dredged material disposal at Dam Neck Ocean Disposal Site (DNODS) and Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time.
