Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade museum; and educational facility.
In general, the work consists of: ReedSchool is a one-room schoolhouse and museum located in Clark County near Neillsville, WI. The schoolhouse was built in 1915 and has been restored to its 1939 appearance. ReedSchool serves as an example of the more than 6,000 one-room schoolhouses that existed throughout Wisconsin during the early twentieth century. This project constitutes the first significant capital project at ReedSchool. The scope of work includes comprehensive exterior maintenance and improvements to the building envelope. Work will include repairs to the concrete block brick veneer, concrete sills, and lintels; installation of a new roofing system; and regrading around the building to improve drainage and site conditions. Site improvements will also include installation of a new ground-mounted flagpole and construction of an accessible ramp to enhance site accessibility. All work shall be undertaken with the intent of preserving the historic character, materials, and architectural features of the building. Repairs and improvements shall be performed in a manner that is compatible with the historic fabric, minimizes removal of original materials, and supports the long-term preservation and continued public use of the ReedSchool.
