Site work for a road / highway in Nakusp, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.
The Ministry of Forests is seeking a qualified contractor for Forest Service Road (FSR) deactivation of the Trout Lake Rady-Cr FSR 0321 02. The length requiring deactivation is 4.4km's. This project is located approximately 54km by gravel road North-Northwest of the community of Meadow Creek, or 92km Northeast of Nakusp, BC. This deactivation project is remote and contractor provided accommodation is required. The deactivation must be completed by November 1st, 2026, or prior to snowfall accumulations of 10cm's. This project has a large elevational range between 1500m and 2250m elevation. A one year option to renew clause is included in this contract in the event that an unforeseen circumstance results in a delay of completing this project in 2026. This deactivation project is contentious and well known to the public. The Ministry of Forests will provide 24/7 onsite security services for the entire duration of deactivation operations. Works required by the contractor will include, but are not limited to: Approximately 5.3km's of minor road access improvement from Hwy 31 to the bottom of the deactivation site. Approximately 295m lineal meters of road fill pullback, 115m lineal meters of full pullback/recontouring and construction of at least 69 cross ditches. There are no culverts or bridges on this FSR. Danger tree assessment and falling by a Certified Faller and Certified Dangerous Tree Assessor. Road improvements for safety, access, staging areas etc. Grass seeding all the freshly exposed mineral soil from deactivation with a MOF provided grass seed mix. The contractor is expected to work closely together with forestry and engineering professionals to achieve the specifications outlined in the road deactivation prescription.
