The Town of Westfield (the “Town”) is soliciting a Request for Proposal/Qualifications (“RFP/RFQ”) for an Engineering and Design Plan for a Pedestrian Plaza/Pocket Park located at 200 South Avenue West. This property was purchased by the Town in 2025 through a grant agreement with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (the “NJEDA”) and the grant requirements must be adhered to closely. The Town of Westfield anticipates a comprehensive planning and design effort aimed at transforming this gateway property to provide numerous benefits to the local community which would include benches, trees, hard and soft scape, lighting and walking paths and other possible amenities. Transforming this vacant space into an attractive community asset will create a more welcoming gateway along this section of South Avenue. This gateway will entice visitors, whether they are arriving via foot, train, or vehicle, to stop and shop along Westfield’s South Avenue business corridor. Creating a more attractive pedestrian experience and beautification will develop a gathering area in this location will also have spinoff benefits for businesses in the immediate vicinity. Finally, a thoughtfully designed pedestrian plaza/pocket park will provide lasting benefits to the community by creating a more vibrant, welcoming, and connected environment.
