Expansion of the water system including utility infrastructure work. The Project includes the following Work: Installation of approximately 1,150 linear feet of new water main on Crandall Road in Tiverton, RI . Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to install new water main and services along Crandall Road, as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. Work also includes interior plumbing work, hydrant installation, pavement and site restoration, and all associated appurtenant work. The Work includes but is not necessarily limited to the following Furnishing and installation of all piping, fittings, valves, hydrants, thrust blocks, restrained joints, couplings, appurtenances, and service connections as shown on the plans and as directed by the Engineer, required for the installation of the new water main. Perform all required testing and disinfection of the new water mains. Adjustments/repairs and/or replacement of utility appurtenances (manholes, catch basins and water valves, frames, grates and covers, gate boxes, etc.) and other related work, as specified or directed by the Engineer. Interior plumbing modifications as needed to make service connections to private properties, including, but not limited to, furnishing and installing meter and backflow prevention devices, plumbing modifications, furnishing and installing an expansion tank, removal and disposal of the existing hydropneumatic tank, physical disconnection of the existing well from the plumbing system, and obtaining applicable permits. All plumbing work shall be completed by a licensed plumber and meet all requirements of all applicable local and state codes. Performing all excavations and backfilling areas to be excavated, including furnishing all backfill materials and restoration of surface pavement. Restoration of roadways, driveways, berms, and landscaped areas as shown or as directed by the Engineer. Furnishing, installation and maintenance of all traffic control and safety measures during the construction period, including signs, barricades, detours, maintenance of safe vehicular and pedestrian access to abutting properties, businesses and commercial establishments and assuring an uninterrupted supply of utility services to all abutters within the project area, at all times. Maintenance and repair of all work for a period of one (1) year following the issuance of the Certificate of Substantial Completion. The Work shall also conform to such additional Drawings and addenda to these Specifications and Drawings as may be published or exhibited prior to the opening of bid proposals and to such Drawings in explanation of details, or as may be furnished by the Engineer from time to time during the construction. Work, materials, equipment, and storage areas, which are necessary for construction, but which are not specifically referred to in the Specifications or shown on the Drawings, but implied by the contract, shall be furnished by the Contractor at his own cost and expense, and shall be such as will correspond with the general character of the Work, as may be determined by the Engineer, whose decisions as to the necessity for and character of such work and materials shall be final and conclusive. It is the intent of these Specifications to produce a complete, finished job, whether shown in every detail or not. Furnishing all materials, labor, and equipment for the relocation, protection, or temporary disturbance of existing utilities (i.e., water, gas, drain) to permit water main improvement activities. Furnishing, installation, operation and maintenance of construction dewatering system and appurtenances in accordance with various regulatory approvals, as well as treatment and proper disposal of contaminated groundwater, if encountered. Restoration of municipal, state and private property including, but not limited to, restoration of loam and seed, mulch, landscaping, gardens, plantings including trees and hedges, gravel areas and driveways, paved driveways, fences, stone walls, retaining walls, decks, porches, patios, walkways, relocation of sheds, and similar existing site improvements disturbed, removed, damaged, or temporarily relocated by the Work Coordination of all construction activities with the appropriate local and State Authorities, and utility companies. Coordination of work on private property with property owners. Attending a pre-construction conference and the required construction progress meetings. Submission of a construction schedule, list of subcontractors, and proposed source locations for off-site materials. Submission of all required shop drawings, in a timely manner, to the Engineer, for review. Mobilization/Demobilization to/from the site. On-site and laboratory testing, as specified. Installation and maintenance of environmental controls consisting of silt fencing, filter fabric, filter socks, silt sacks and silt bags, and providing dust control as required. Obtaining necessary permits and licenses, maintaining all items required by the applicable permits, and payment of fees. Traffic control planning, devices, and coordination of police details & flaggers.
