The project will reduce hazardous invasive fuels within the Largo Canyon corridors, protect at-risk communities and oil and gas infrastructure, provide defensible space for firefighters, and improve the resilience of native cottonwood-dominated riparian stands. The project occurs entirely on BLM-administered lands within the Farmington Field Office. Target vegetation includes saltcedar (Tamarix spp.), Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia), and elm. Treatment will use approved integrated weed-management methods and must protect desirable native vegetation and sensitive resources. Final treatment boundaries and access routes will be established by the District-provided GIS data and written BLM direction. Seeding, mastication, and herbicide treatment.
