Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Auburn, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.

The scope of work is a brief overview of the expected extent of work included in this contract. Stetson Road Culvert Replacement Provide and maintain work zone traffic control including signage. Provide and maintain temporary erosion and sedimentation controls. Provide and maintain temporary stream diversion and water pollution control system. Protect existing utilities. Remove and dispose of or abandon in place existing utilities as shown on the plans. Remove and dispose of existing 14-foot wide, Remove and dispose of unsuitable soils beneath existing culvert and proposed culvert footings. Furnish and install proposed 16-foot-wide (interior) by 10-foot-tall (interior) reinforced precast concrete box culvert with precast concrete wing walls as detailed on the plans. Place streambed material and large boulders within the culvert to create a stabilized streambank matching existing upstream conditions and materials as shown on the plans. Furnish and install catch basins, manholes, and drainage piping as shown on the plans. Backfill and provide base gravels and bituminous pavement courses as detailed on the plans. Regrade and stabilize streambed and banks as shown on the plans. Furnish and install new guardrail as shown on the plans. Furnish and install new curbing and sidewalk as shown on the plans. Grade, loam, seed, and mulch as required to restore all disturbed areas. Remove all temporary erosion control and traffic control measures. Questions regarding this Request for Bids should be directed to the City Engineer, Kris Bennett, City of Auburn, at kbennett@auburnmaine.gov. Questions will be fielded until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. All work must be completed from 7:00AM to 7:00PM. All construction activities in-water shall only occur during periods of low flow and during the in-water construction window of July 15, 2025, to September 30, 2025. 3. The completion date for this project is November 15, 2025. Liquidated damages of $500/calendar day will be assessed on uncompleted work. A bid bond shall be submitted with appropriate bid forms in the amount of 5% of the total contract value. Also, payment and performance bonds will be required from the contractor who is awarded this contract. Retainage in the amount of 10% will be held from each progress payment and shall be released at the discretion of the Assistant City Engineer. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals in whole or in part and to waive any informality the City may determine necessary
