Sanitary sewer overflows near Denny Road and Juniper Street are caused by an undersized sewer leading to the Harward St. pump station. Increase the size of the sewer main from Office Dr to the Harward St pump station by replacing the existing pipe. Included in CSO Master Plan. SECTION 01010 SUMMARY OF WORK PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION A. Location: The work locations include locations within the rights-of-way on the following streets and easements as shown on the drawings in the City of Bath, ME. 1. High Street 2. Office Drive 3. Denny Road 4. Park Street 5. Winship Street 6. Washington Street B. Work Included: Upgrading the City of Bath Harward Street Pump Station and Gravity Sewer Interceptor. The major proposed work under this Contract includes: 1. Construction of: a. New 8-foot diameter Combined Sewer Overflow structure and all ancillary systems as indicated on the Drawings; b. Other appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. c. Pump station pumps, sump pumps, process piping, valves, slide gates, manual bar racks, supports, and all ancillary systems at the Harward Street Pump Station as indicated on the Drawings; d. Electrical, controls, SCADA panels, lighting, and generator at the Harward Street Pump Station; e. Windows, doors, and HVAC system at the Harward Street Pump Station; f. Approximately 25 LF of 14-inch force main pipe to connect into the existing and combination air/vacuum relief valve; g. Approximately 5,900 LF of 36-inch and 24-inch gravity sanitary sewers pipe from the Dike Newell School to the Harward Street Pump Station; h. Sewer manholes with new 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot structures; i. Sewer service laterals; j. Removal and disposal or abandonment of existing sewer manholes, sewer pipes, and sewer service laterals; k. Cleaning of approximately 3,000 LF of existing 16” force main pipe; l. Other appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. 2. Demolition of: a. Existing pump station pump, sump pumps, process piping, valves, slide gates, supports, and all ancillary systems as indicated on the Drawings; b. Electrical, control, SCADA panels, and lighting; c. Windows, Doors, HVAC system, and Generator; d. Approximately 25 LF segment of force main; e. Gravity sanitary sewer; f. Sewer manholes; g. Abandonment of existing gravity sewer and manholes h. Abandonment and/or infill of existing sanitary sewer and sewer manholes i. Other appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. 3. Renovation of: a. Pump Station exterior wall, brick veneer, and cracked concrete; b. Floodproofing of existing pump station c. Other appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. 4. Maintain pump station and gravity sewer flow as detailed in Part 3 of this section. 5. Remove and/or relocate equipment as indicated on the Drawings. 6. Pre-purchased Materials: a. Owner has purchased approximately 1,200 LF of 36-inch PVC sewer pipe. The pipe is stored at the Owner’s facilities at the City of Bath Landfill in its native shipping container. b. Contractor shall incorporate the pipe into the project, including transporting the pipe to the work site and installing the pipe complete in accordance with the specifications. C. Removals, Relocations and Rearrangements 1. Examine the existing site for the work of all trades which will influence the cost of the work under the bid. This work shall include removals, relocations and rearrangements which may interfere with, disturb or complicate the performance of the work under the bid involving systems, equipment and related service lines, which shall continue to be utilized as part of the finished project. The Contractor is responsible for all coordination in this regard. 2. Provide in the bid a sufficient amount to include all removals, relocations, rearrangements and reconnections herein specified, necessary or required to provide approved operation and coordination of the combined new and existing systems and equipment. This project is included in the City of Bath's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of June 16, 2025, per owner, design team identified. Contractor bids are due July 1, 2025. Construction timeline will be determined by the selected contractor. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
