Site work and paving for a road / highway in Hartford, Maine. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
As of June 26, 2025 Project has been Abandon bids were rejected no plans to rebid the project Town of Hartford Request for Proposals Pratt Hill Reconstruction GPS Coordinates Beginning of Project Area: 44 21 16 N 70 18 13 W End of Project Area: 44 21 39 N 70 17 28 W The Town of Hartford is accepting Bids for the construction of Pratt Hill Road. The Board of Selectmen reserve the right to accept or reject any or all bids. Grind starting at the end of the 400-foot apron adjacent to Route 219 to the end of the road to the apron of Mahoney Hill intersection. The length of the work to be completed is 4,104 lineal feet. You are asked to construct two travel lanes which will be 9 feet wide. A 2-foot-wide shoulder will be required where possible. The contractor will provide ditching, shoulder work, geotextile placement, re-seeding of vegetation if disturbed, and gravel placement. No V-ditching. The contractor will be responsible for obtaining any permits required and utilizing flaggers for traffic control as needed. Submission Requirements: Contractor name and address, one-million-dollar liability insurance, and total Bid amount. Please provided estimated start and finish dates and approximate number of days to complete the project. The Board of Selectman reserves the right to accept or deny any or all Bids. Scope of Work Starting after the 400-foot apron, coming from Rt 219, the asphalt will be ground from that point to the end of the intersection with Mahoney Road. At the intersection of Laplante Road and Pratt Hill, there is a soft spot that may require geotextile, approximately 20x20 with addition of crushed 1.5-inch gravel. Approximately 1200 feet from the start of Pratt Hill/Rt 219 intersection on the right, a dug well exists and crosses under the road to the house. This will be marked with orange tape on a tree. Approximately 1500 feet to Meader Lane, light ditching will be required approximately 100 feet after Meader Lane down the hill to the area across from mailbox 122. Across from mailbox 65, the stone wall will need to be opened to allow water to exit to the existing stream. This section will require a shallow swale with 4-6-inch rip-rap. North of Pole 4 heading toward Mahoney Road, ditch both sides of the road to the intersection. Ditching on the left will be up to the start of the lawn of the last house by Pole # 22. 4-6-inch rip-rap will be placed into these ditches. The cross culvert will require rip-rap to secure the bank coming from the ditch and add a small retention area. If there is found to be ledge where the ditch should be, use of a French drain wrapped in filter fabric with 3/4 inch stone, may be installed over the ledge if needed. The approximate size of the French drain will be 20x20. All existing ditching from Laplante road to the intersection of Mahoney, will be cleared of any debris. Any ditching not with Rip-Rap will require hay/seeding. Erosion control will need to stay in place until new vegetation has grown. Erosion control will be required near the stream by Laplante Road, to avoid any material washing into Little Bear Pond. After the road has been ground, place 1.5-inch crushed gravel, 4 inches thick and compacted, 22 feet wide and the entire length of the road. The exception being if a French drain is utilized, 8 inches will be required over the French drain. Contractor will be responsible to blend into all existing aprons on all driveways and roads. The Board of Selectmen reserve the right to accept or reject any or all bids
