The Town of Mount Desert is seeking Statements of Qualifications from qualified engineering firms to provide marine engineering and design services to reconstruct the Town Wharf at 40 Harbor Drive, in the Village of Northeast Harbor. The goal of the Wharf Reconstruction project is to provide safe public access with infrastructure improvements that are low maintenance and will withstand natural forces for decades to come. Scope of Services includes: meeting with the Harbor Committee and their consultants for pre-investigation and scoping review; program development for a new wharf including survey, utility location, geotechnical investigation, bathymetry, topography, sea level rise modeling, wave setup and run up analysis, evaluation and addressing of current flood plain information and sea level rise, options on sustainability and life expectancy of marine systems; schematic design; design development; estimate of project probable cost; estimated construction schedule; local municipal, state, and federal permitting applications; bid documentation, plans, specifications, and bid management; and construction documentation. Interested firms must submit a Statement of Qualifications including a firm overview and history, summary of qualifications, related experience, project team, and approach narrative. Submissions will be reviewed by the Harbor Committee, Public Works Director and the Town's engineering consultants, and final recommendation will be made to the Selectmen. Firms must employ personnel with current licensure in the State of Maine who will serve as Engineers of Record on the project.
