Site work, paving and renovation of a civil project in Phippsburg, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

Work under this contract includes all work required to complete the Transfer Station Improvements - Phase 2 project in Phippsburg, Maine, as shown on the plans. In general, the work involves common excavation, base and subbase course gravel installation, hot mix asphalt paving, replacement of the existing retaining wall with handrail, installing a vault privy, and erosion & sedimentation control. The retaining wall shall be designed and stamped by a professional structural engineer licensed in the State of Maine. Active construction is only allowed when the Transfer Station is closed to the public. The Transfer Station hours of operation are as follows: Summer Hours (starting June 15th): Monday 8-4, Wednesday 8-4, Friday 8-4, Saturday 8-4 Winter Hours (starting Sept 15th): Monday 8-4 Wednesday 8-4, Saturday 8-4 The proposed work shall include the following items: 1. Install traffic control signage to isolate construction area from Transfer Station operations. 2. Install erosion and sedimentation control. 3. Remove existing privy building, including the tank, foundation, and other incidentals. 4. Remove existing retaining wall, as indicated on the Construction Drawings. 5. Install proposed concrete retaining wall. 6. Install handrail on top of proposed retaining wall 7. Install concrete privy tank and construct privy building on privy tank. 8. Common excavation, backfilling, compacting, and grading. 9. Install compacted Type D gravel subbase and Type A gravel base. 10. Install 2" base course HMA (19.0 mm). Thickness specified is following compaction. 11. Regrade existing stone-lined ditching. 12. Applying erosion and control mix to all disturbed areas. 13. The Contractor is responsible for dust control throughout the duration of the project.
