The Town of St. Albans is requesting three-year proposals for the Town’s Sexton. The qualified individual and/or company will be responsible for the maintenance of seven active cemeteries, two inactive Veterans’ cemeteries, and coordinating the locations of lots and burials. Duties include cleaning cemeteries before opening in April and closing in November, removal of flags, preparing cemeteries for Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day, mowing, trimming, debris removal, maintenance of inactive cemeteries three times per season, filling lots, cutting brush, removal of branches, timely opening and closing of graves for burials and disinterments, maintaining accurate burial records with the Town Clerk, informing Town officials of additional maintenance needs, and billing individuals for burials. Suitable equipment must be provided by the bidder. Compliance with safety, conduct, insurance, and legal requirements is mandatory. Invoicing must occur monthly, and independent contractors are responsible for their own employees and insurance. Proposals must include a three-year contract offer, hourly rates, proof of insurance, list of equipment, number of employees, and four professional references. All proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope labeled "Town of St. Albans Sexton Proposal." The Town reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.
