Renovation of a mixed-use development in Waterville, Maine. Completed plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool; and power facility.
The City of Waterville is seeking proposals from Solar Installation contractors for the installation of 12kw of photovoltaic solar panels at the Waterville Municipal Pool. The energy system will be installed on the facility's southeast and southwest-facing roof segments of the pool house building. The system will offset roughly 40% of the pool house's energy needs, decreasing utility expenses and contributing to Waterville's climate resilience by reducing its carbon footprint. Waterville's municipal pool is used by thousands of people each summer, and this energy system will serve as a demonstration project, encouraging adoption of renewable energy throughout the community. The Contractor's proposed work description should be included with this bid. A bid bond, performance, and payment bonds will not be required The successful Contractor will perform the following scope of work: 1. Site Preparation: Review the municipal pool house roof structure to ensure it is structurally prepared for installation of the energy system. Analyze energy system design as needed. 2. Panel and Inverter Installation: Procure 12kw of PV solar panels, inverters and mounting systems for the pool house. Install the procured materials onto the pool house roof. 3. Electrical Integration for Net Metering: Connect the 12kw solar energy system into the City's electrical grid infrastructure and establish a net metering system using best practices. 4. Post-Installation Testing: Conduct site visits to ensure system is producing energy, net metering is functional and integration to electrical grid continues to be successful. The Owner will be responsible for providing access to the areas of construction and a secure storage area for materials and tools to be used. The contractor will be allowed to use on-site electrical, water, and bathroom facilities. 2. October 8, 2025: City Q&A period closes. All questions submitted to amcpherson@waterville-me.gov. The project installation shall have a minimum of a 1-year warranty, which shall commence on the date of final acceptance from the City. Other warrantees will be provided for the installed equipment and components per the manufacturer.
