The Town of Westport Island is accepting bids for repairs to the front of the historic Town Hall including removal and replacement of the wood clapboard siding, painting, and refinishing and restoring of all window frames and historical window embellishments. Scope of Work for Town Hall Front Repairs Contractor will remove all wood clapboard siding. Contractor will repair the existing drainage plane, or if repair is not possible, install a suitable drainage plane such as Obdyke Hydrogap. Contractor will install primed western hemlock siding, which has already been purchased by the town, and install at exposure to weather matching existing siding using stainless steel siding nails. All cuts must be primed on the ends before final installation. Contractor will flash the window and doors with suitable flashing. Contractor will apply two coats of latex paint to all siding and existing corner and rake boards. Contractor will scrape, prime with oil paint, and install two finish coats of latex paint on the window and door casings and fan tops, matching the existing color. Contractor may do this work without removing casings and fans; or remove casings and fans and then reinstall. Contractor will remove all debris and leave the site neat and clean. Paint and flashing materials, and flashing method, must be included with the bid. All paint used must be Benjamin Moore or a brand of equal quality. Variables such as the condition of the drainage plane, underlying sheathing, and window casings and fans are not possible to accurately assess until the siding has been removed. Necessary modifications to this scope of work will be considered with a formal change order which must be submitted in writing, detailing the proposed changes, cost implications, and schedule adjustments.
