Site work for a power facility in Keswick Ridge, New Brunswick. Design plans call for site work for a power facility.
Upgrades and repairs to the 660-MW power generation station to ensure that it will be able to operate to its intended 100-year lifespan until 2068 through equipment maintenance and replacement. The scope of the project includes the replacement of six turbine in the powerhouse and an expense of $100-million for upgrades for fish passage. The scope is expected to involve the following components: Controlling water with grouting and surface sealing; Repairing damaged and deteriorated concrete including gate guides, bridges and rollways; Replacement of assorted mechanical and electrical components including gates, cranes, pumps, piping, cabling and controls; Removing and replacing six turbines; Modifying powerhouse superstructure; and Installation of multi-species fish passage. TIMELINE: Detailed design is nearing 30% completion. The Environmental Impact Assessment process is ongoing. Mobilization, early works, and the fish passage construction are expected to proceed in 2025, pending necessary approvals and funding. Further update may be available late 2025.
