Site work for a power facility in Keswick Ridge, New Brunswick. Design plans call for site work for a power facility.
Upgrades and repairs to the 660-MW power generation station to ensure that it will be able to operate to its intended 100-year lifespan until 2068 through equipment maintenance and replacement. The scope of the project includes the replacement of six turbine in the powerhouse and an expense of $100-million for upgrades for fish passage. The scope is expected to involve the following components: Controlling water with grouting and surface sealing; Repairing damaged and deteriorated concrete including gate guides, bridges and rollways; Replacement of assorted mechanical and electrical components including gates, cranes, pumps, piping, cabling and controls; Removing and replacing six turbines; Modifying powerhouse superstructure; and Installation of multi-species fish passage. TIMELINE: Detailed design is nearing 30% completion. The Environmental Impact Assessment process is ongoing; completion anticipated early 2025. Mobilization, early works, and the fish passage construction are expected to proceed in 2025. Further update may be available spring 2025.
