Demolition, site work and renovation of a museum in Neepawa, Manitoba. Completed plans call for the demolition of a museum; and for the renovation of a museum.
The building is described as a two story wood framed structure originally constructed in 1887 with an expansion in 1901, at which time a brick veneer was added. The building is condemned and unfit for habitation. No one is permitted to enter the building at any time. Contractor to provide all labour, materials, equipment, accessories, etc. as required for the demolition of the building at 344 Main Street as per specifications, terms and conditions, including removal of foundation and restoration of property. All safety regulations shall be adhered to, and all necessary precautions shall be taken to protect the workers, the public, and both public and private properties. Specifications: 1. Contractor is responsible for the complete demolition and removal of the building, all contents and any other materials and debris found on the property, etc. The basement foundation and portions thereof are to be completely removed with suitable clean fill to back fill, pack and level all cavities created by this site restoration work to the satisfaction of the Town of Neepawa. 2. Demolition shall be completed as per The Workplace Safety and Health MR 217/2006 Regulation - Reference Parts 33, 36 and 37, the scope and summary of which is contained in a Hazardous Materials Removal Scope of Work During Controlled Demolition Report completed by Pinchin Ltd. and attached to this RFP. - Specific attention to ensuring that absolutely No Salvage leaves the site (i.e. brick, stone, copper wire, metal, etc.) other than provided for within the report. All materials removed from the demolition site: - Shall be disposed of as per specifications of the Manager of Operations and the Building Inspector of the Town of Neepawa in accordance with the Workplace Safety and Health legislation and as sited in the consultant's report. The Town of Neepawa will be responsible for the payment of any associated tipping fees for any materials required to be sent to an approved construction and demolition (C and D) site. In relation to Section 2.0, Item #3 of the Pinchin report, the Town of Neepawa reserves the right to identify alternate locations for the disposal of non-suspect exterior brick and stone, treating same as a reusable resource, as opposed to regular landfill waste. 3. The contractor shall complete all work and clean the site to the satisfaction of the Manager of Operations and Building Inspector of the Town of Neepawa by November 1, 2018. 4. Contractor is to obtain a demolition permit from the Neepawa Area Planning District prior to commencing work on the site and comply with all conditions, codes and by-laws. 5. Bidders will note that site access is from PTH #16 and as such, limitations exist that will require: A pre-approved demolition plan including a traffic management plan, so to ensure safety and limit and minimize the impact on the highway and flow of traffic. A waste management plan in conformity with 2a. 6. Due to the age and deterioration of the building and the proximity to other residences, bidders shall communicate with the Manager of Operations of the Town of Neepawa to ensure a satisfactory plan and procedure is in place to mitigate and control any possibility of rodents and/or potential fallout as a result of the demolition.
