Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility; and for the construction of a 230,000-square-foot, two-story above grade transportation facility.
As of October 13, 2023, this project broke ground, and construction as begun. A firm timeline for construction completion has not been established; however, completion is anticipated for mid 2026. The new two-level, 230,000-square-foot domestic terminal, which officials said will be able to accommodate four million to five million passengers each year, will include: Five gates; Check-in and ticketing areas; Departure and arrival baggage facilities; Security screening checkpoints; Retail and food/beverage concessions; Pedestrian bridges or walkways that will provide connections to an existing parking garage and the airport’s Terminal 4; Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) features and amenities; and LEED Silver certification features. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
