Site work and new construction of a laboratory facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 470,000-square-foot, five-story above grade, one-story below grade laboratory facility; for site work for a laboratory facility; and laboratory facility.
The intent of the Edmonton Lab Hub (ELH) is to provide a new laboratory hub on Government of Alberta land south of the Neil Crawford Center on 113 Street and 65 Avenue. The project contains office spaces, analysis and research laboratories including Level 3 laboratories, visitor parking, circulation roadways and landscaping, on site storm water management systems, specialty building systems such as cogeneration and other sustainable technologies, heated loading docks for fleet vehicles, laboratory fixtures and equipment including owner supplied, contractor installed items. The project includes a consolidation of 7 labs in the Edmonton area, much which are currently over capacity. Testing is currently conducted by Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, and DynaLife. The new medical lab hub will allow all testing to be done under one roof and allow the testing process to be streamlined. The facility will provide leading edge diagnostics, quality, innovation and efficiency for laboratory operations, research and teaching associated with it. The lab will provide the backbone of all clinical, educational and research functions within their information management and information technology systems that impacts requisitioning and results reporting, laboratory operations software that optimizes flow of work between short term and long-term storage, and sequencing and analyzing of DNA and RNA from various sources. The approved construction budget is $348,000,000 (including escalation and contingencies). The construction schedule is from February 15, 2019 through November 2, 2021. The project has been mandated to achieve LEED Silver certification. PCL Construction Management Inc. (PCL) invited pre-qualification submissions from sub-trade contractors to pre-qualify for BP #1, #2 & #3. Successful short-listed pre-qualified Trade Contractors will be invited to participate in the Lump Sum Tender for their relevant scope of work. The approved construction budget is $348,000,000 (including escalation and contingencies). Lump Sum Tender for BP#1 (TP#1) - (Site Utilities, Excavation, Backfill, Shoring & Piling) is (November 22, 2018 - December 06, 2018) Construction Value: $5,330,000.00 Lump Sum Tender for BP#2 (TP#2) - (All substructure work, up to main floor and Waterproofing exterior walls & weeping tile) is (February 20, 2019 - March 06, 2019) Construction Value: $35,900,000.00 Lump Sum Tender for BP#3 (TP#3) - (Concrete superstructure and All structural steel) is (May 09, 2019 - May 23, 2019) Construction Value: $39,500,000.00 Construction manager has invited trades for Bid Package 01 (Excavation & Backfill, Piling & Shoring, and Civil Works). ONLY Invited trades have received copies of the bid package. **Project was has been cancelled and will not be moving forward. Coverage has been discontinued.
