Site work, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 604,000-square-foot, three-story above grade, 15,900-seat stadium; and conference / convention center.
Construction of a new event and entertainment facility to be located on the Midtown shopping centre north parking lot, north of 22nd Street between 1st Ave. & Pacific Ave. The public realm areas encompass 22nd Street between Idylwyld Drive and 1st Avenue, a new plaza space directly south of the event centre in the southern half of the existing North Parking Lot for Midtown Plaza, a new courtyard area on the east side of the event centre and west of the Hilton Garden Inn, 23rd Street between roughly Wall Street and 1st Avenue, and a proposed future linear park running north along the east side of Ontario Avenue north of 23rd Street. The project is expected to be delivered via a Private Partner Procurement Approach. The Arena/Event Centre will be designed to host a variety of events and is expected to have a seating capacity of approx. 15,900. The layout incorporates a precast raker system seating bowl, along with two levels of public concourses and a premium level. Project will also include an expansion and renovation of the Convention Centre; construction of two levels of underground parkade beneath the Convention Centre with a total of 532 parking spaces; renovations to the Sid Buckwold Theatre; Utility upgrades; and a three-phased infrastructure improvement plan. TIMELINE: Planning work is ongoing. The City has approved a funding strategy and OVG360 (Oak View Group) is the recommended private Operating Partner for the long-term operations of the facility. Timelines for design and construction are subject to Federal, Provincial, and City funding approvals. Further update may be available late 2025/2026. *The total estimated cost of this project is $1.22 billion. Estimated cost for the Arena/Event Centre is $632,069,400; the Convention Centre is $220,975,000; the Parkade is estimated at $74,998,900; and the Theatre renovation cost is estimated at $28,674,900. Hunden Strategic Partners were engaged as the Deal Structure and Negotiations Advisor to assist with procurement of a private Operating Partner for the long-term operations of the facility.
