Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in South Abington Township, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

This project provides for the replacement of the existing single span steel plate girder bridge carrying the Turnpike over SR 4019 with a single span steel plate girder bridge. The project also includes widening of the northbound roadway from one to two lanes from the Clarks Summit Bridge to the Clarks Summit Toll Plaza. Also includes the construction of a mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall, stormwater management facilities, reconstruction of SR 4019 within the limits of the bridge replacement, replacement of Turnpike median barrier and resurfacing the existing roadway. Work items include, but are not limited to: 41,619 CY Excavation, Various Classes 10,051 CY Selected Borrow Excavation Rock, Type A & Type B 4,015 TON Subbase (No. 2A) 3,662 TON Superpave Asphalt Mixtures, Various Courses, Various Depths 39,643 SY Superpave Asphalt Mixtures, Various Courses, Various Depths 23,069 SY Milling of Bituminous Pavement Surface, Various Depths 1,796 LF Drainage Pipes, Various Sizes 30 EA Inlets, Various Types 2,685 LF Guide Rail, Various Types 2,028 LF Concrete Glare Screen 9,044 LF Temporary Concrete Barrier 17 EA Aluminum Lighting Pole (40' mounting height) and Luminaires 3 EA Monopipe Sign Structure 2,373 CY Class A Cement Concrete 9,613 SF Architectural Surface Treatment 222 CY Class AAAP Cement Concrete 44,337 LB Reinforcing Bars 179,080 LB Reinforcing Bars, Epoxy Coated 273,040 LB Fabricated Structural Steel 16,988 LF Micropiles Milepost A-130.23 is located approximately 0.4 miles south of the Clarks Summit Toll Plaza, Exit 131, in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The proposal and plans are published electronically in EBS and are available to registered business partners for downloading and printing. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
