Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Iowa City, Iowa. Working plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
All bids rejected by city This project generally includes the removal and replacement of the existing four-lane concrete bridge with a new continuous concrete slab bridge over Ralston Creek, designed to meet local and state guidelines for traffic and pedestrians, six-foot sidewalks on both sides, and aesthetic improvements to enhance the neighborhood and views of the creek. Streambank stabilization will occur upstream and downstream of the new bridge with the addition of fabric formed concrete revetment and Class E revetment. Storm sewer will also be upsized from 15” to 30” diameter RCP pipe to provide additional capacity from Court Street to Ralston Creek where localized flooding during heavy rainstorms has been reported. Water main improvements will occur immediately north of the bridge to prepare for a future project. In addition, the project will include the undergrounding of overhead utilities within the project corridor.
