Montreal Subway Extension - Blue Line. The project will extend the Montreal subway system in east direction to Anjou. The blocks A, B and C of the project include the construction of Anjou, Pie-IX and Langelier subway stations. In early 2022 the reference project has been optimized to better serve eastern Montreal by public transit and effectively integrate the infrastructure into the urban fabric. Among the improvements made are: • The location of a secondary entrance at the Anjou terminal, east of Highway 25, which will allow an entire sector to have access to the blue line, thus opening up an entire neighborhood; • The maintenance of several local businesses in Anjou by relocating several infrastructures of the terminal station; • Removal of incentive parking at Anjou station; • Maintenance of the shopping center at the intersection of Jean-Talon Street and Pie-IX Boulevard; • Interconnection with the Eastern REM. At the same time, the government has already approved the execution of certain additional works, such as those related to the urban technical network and the construction of a pedestrian tunnel linking the SRB Pie-IX to the future metro station at the intersection of rue Jean-Talon and Pie-IX Boulevard. TIMELINE: Working drawings are being prepared by construction packages. Contract for the first construction package relating to demolition work has been publicly tendered under the number 6000020794, awarded and is now followed in the report under CRM ID name Demolition Lot 1 - Extension of the Blue Line. Construction started. Tender for the general contractor 6000021637 for the construction of the main tunnel of the future extension of the blue line issued based on the results of the Request for qualification of companies 6000019290 that is now followed in the report under CRM ID name Construction of the Tunnel for the Extension of the Blue Line of the Montreal Subway closed at the owner in May 2023. Deposited bids are under review. According to the owner's preliminary scheduling the successful bidder will be awarded in the second half of 2023. The awarded contractor will be responsible in particular for: - supply and operation of the tunnel boring machine; - construction of the tunnel by TBM between Pie-IX and Anjou West; - construction of the tunnel by conventional method between Pie-IX and the rear station of the current blue line; - excavation of the Pie-IX (main entrance only), Viau and Lacordaire stations as well as certain auxiliary structures. Tunnel construction start is anticipated in late fall 2023. Completion of works is planned for 2029. Notes: - Consortium of architectural professional consulting firms Lemay and Bisson Fortin Architectes is designing Anjou and Pie-IX stations; and Architectural firm ACDF Architecture is designing Langelier station. -The second project phase in being followed in the report under Extension of the Blue Line (Line Five) of the Montreal Subway Network - Phase Two (Blocks D and E). - The value of the two project phases is officially estimated at $6.4 billion. The value of this phase is not released for publication and is an estimate.
