Plans call to convert a former police department building into an administrative office building. As of December 15 2021, this project has been awarded. The principal items of work include demolition of an existing building and construction of an approximate 27,000 square foot, two story, new administration building. There will be site work consisting of a new parking lot, landscaping and shoring ofthe existing hill. This building will complete the intersection of Haymaker and South Water Street and the connection to the Portage Bike and Hike Trail. Work will take place on the site while still allowing for the Fire Department to continue in full operation. The architect's estimate of probable costs for this work is approximately $7,300,000.00. The Bidder must fully inform him self of the conditions relating to the construction of the project and the employment of labor thereon. The Bidder is expected to examine carefully the site of the proposed Work, the proposal, plans, specifications, supplemental specifications, special provisions, and contract forms before submitting a proposal. The submission of a Bid shall be considered evidence that the Bidder has made such examination and is satisfied as to the conditions to be encountered in performing the Work and as to the requirements of the plans, specifications, supplemental specifications, special provisions, and Contract. Failure to do so will not relieve a successful Bidder of the obligation to furnish all material and labor necessary to carry out the provisions of the Contract. Insofar as possible the Contractor, in carrying out the Work, must employ such methods or means as will not cause interruption of or interference with the Work of any other Contractor.
