Renovation of a municipal facility in Kent, Ohio. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 10,100-square-foot municipal facility.

Question Deadline 10/10/2025 at 11:00 AM ET To receive consideration, all questions about the meaning or intent of the Proposal Documents must be submitted through the Bonfire website, Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by City in response to such questions will be issued, in writing, by Addenda digitally to all plan holders that received this Request for Proposals Project Description: This project shall replace the roof of the West Chemical Building at the Akron Water Supply Plant. The work shall include but not limited to the complete removal of an existing roofing system and the installation of a 3d architectural shingle roofing system, including all associated appurtenances per the following technical specifications to provide a complete roofing system. Includes the proper removal and clean-up of all debris. The proposed work will be done at the Akron Water Supply Plant, which is in operation 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The Contractor shall arrange their activities in such a way as to minimize interference with the plant operation and operating and maintenance personnel. All activities of the Contractor shall be coordinated with the City of Akron on a daily basis and shall include updates to the construction schedule. Approximate Roof Areas 10,100 Square Feet (See Attached Map) Installation 1. Remove all layers of roofing down to the sheathing, any deteriorated sheathing boards, facia, all soil stacks with flashings, the entire gutter system, and roof vents. Haul all debris away from premises. 2. Replace any deteriorated sheathing boards with CDX exterior plywood, 5/8" thick (bid reference number 2). 3. Install GAF Timberline HD dimensional shingles with starter strip, with samples provided. GAF Tiger Paw premium underlayment, facia, new soil stack flashing, baked enamel finish aluminum drip edge around the perimeter. GAF Weather Watch Ice & Water Shield at the gutter edge. GAF Cobra Ridge Runner ventilation with Seal-A-Ridge shingle caps. Half laced valley with ice and water shield underneath. GAF Systems Plus 50-year non-pro rated material defect Warranty. Shingles shall match those of the nearby buildings. 4. Replace gutter and downspout system. 5. Replace all roof vents with similar functioning vents All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project will, to the extent practicable, use Ohio products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of their project. Domestic steel use requirements as specified in Section 153.011 of the Ohio Revised Code apply to this Project. Copies of Section 153.011 of the Ohio Revised Code can be obtained from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Except as provided in Section 102.07 of the City of Akron, Construction and Materials Specifications, 2008 Edition, each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check in the sum of 10% of bids on a solvent bank, or a bid bond in like amount, acceptable to the City of Akron, as a guarantee, that if the proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into. Except as provided in Section 103.05 of the City of Akron, Construction and Materials Specifications, 2008 Edition, the Proposer to whom the Agreement is awarded will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the sum of 100% of the Contract Price for the faithful performance of the contract. The performance and payment bond shall remain in full effect until Final Completion of the Project. Proposals may be held by City for a period not to exceed one hundred twenty (120) days after the date Proposals are opened for the purpose of reviewing the Proposals and investigating the qualifications of Proposers prior to awarding the Agreement. Bidders must use the prepared forms provided therefore which include compliance with Section 34.03 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Akron, Ohio regarding public contracts. Additionally, contractor compliance with the equal employment opportunity requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, the Governor's Executive Order of 1972, and Governor's Executive Order 84-9 shall be required. Doc note: Plans are in accordance with the City of Akron, Construction and Material Specifications, 2008 Edition and with the City's standard construction drawings, unless otherwise noted in the plans or the bid book. The Director of Public Service reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to waive informalities.
