Renovation and addition to an educational facility in Racine, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the addition of a educational facility; and for the renovation of a educational facility.
Improvements to be made at S.C. Johnson Elementary School include modernization of learning spaces, updates to security, new gym addition, accessibility updates, infrastructure improvements and new rooms for music, art and STEAM. As of June 10, 2024, this project is under construction and completion is expected by Fall 2025. Bond fund $598 million of work over 30 years SC JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL The referendum would provide the funding needed to make the following improvements at SC Johnson: SAFETY & SECURITY: • Replace fire alarm and clock systems • Update for ADA-compliant access • Install emergency backup generator LEARNING SPACES: • Repurpose current gymnasium for Music, Art and STEM classrooms • Create STEM Lab • Add Maker Space in Library • Right-size existing classrooms • Remodel and add Special Education spaces to include a Sensory Room • Expand cafeteria, renovate kitchen and create receiving area NEW ADDITIONS: • Build new classroom addition to convert to five-section school • Construct new gymnasium INFRASTRUCTURE: • Refresh building interiors (LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, casework, paint walls) • Address building maintenance (doors, HVAC updates, exterior masonry, roofing and retro-commissioning)
