Remodeling and addition to an educational facility in Racine, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the addition of a educational facility; and for the remodel of a educational facility.
As of April 15,2025, an architect and a construction manager has been selected and this project is in the planning phase. Construction is expected to begin in May of 2025 and complete in August of 2026 Bond fund $598 million of work over 30 years The referendum would provide the funding needed to make the following improvements at Wadewitz: SAFETY & SECURITY: • Update for ADA-compliant access • Replace fire alarm, clock and PA systems • Install emergency backup generator LEARNING SPACES: • Create Art Classroom and STEM Lab • Remodel Special Education spaces and create two Sensory Rooms • Create breakout spaces and right-size classrooms • Repurpose existing spaces to create Community Room • Relocate and remodel kitchen near cafeteria NEW ADDITIONS: • Construct a new gymnasium, music and band addition INFRASTRUCTURE: • Refresh building interiors (LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, casework, paint walls) • Address building maintenance (doors, HVAC updates, plumbing, roofing, exterior masonry, asphalt/concrete and retro-commissioning of pool and HVAC system) • Repair pool equipment The 2020 bond referendum was passed and approved by the voters on April 7, 2020.
