Site work and paving for a road / highway in Topeka, Kansas. Conceptual plans call for paving for a road / highway; and for site work for a road / highway.
This project will investigate various options, including but not limited to, reconstructing within the existing roadway configuration, reducing the number of lanes to coincide with the limited traffic volumes and creating a plaza type atmosphere.Construction documents for the final approved design concept will then be prepared which include a set of drawings and project manual for a roadway reconstruction project. The project will be designed and constructed in accordance with the City of Topeka and Shawnee County Standard Technical Specifications. Basic Services provided may include, but are not limited to the following: Meet with City staff at critical stages throughout design. Perform field and topographic surveys. Coordinate with other City utilities and private utility owners. Perform the investigation phase of the design. The Down Town Master Plan will be utilized during the investigation phase. Facilitate two (2) public meetings: the first public meeting is to be held after the investigation phase has produced a concept for construction to allow for public input, and the second public meeting is to be held after office-check drawings are complete in order to keep the public informed as to what is going to be the final product of the construction project. The purpose of both meetings is to inform the public and to gather input from them for the project Design roadway improvements based on the final concept approved from the investigation phase of the design project and the design of a new traffic signal at the intersection of SE Quincy Street & SE 8th Street, removal of the existing traffic signal at SE 9th Street and replacing it with a RRFB The consultant will work with the Citys right of way agent, to obtain needed right of way and/or temporary easements prior to the letting. The consultant will prepare the necessary legal descriptions needed for acquisitions. Develop a traffic control plan for the project. Develop and submit conceptual drawings (30% complete) with an estimate of probable construction costs (EPCC). Develop and submit field-check drawings (60% complete) and an updated EPCC. Develop and submit office-check drawings and project manual (90% complete) and an updated EPCC. Develop and submit final drawings, project manual, invitation to bid, bid form, and a final EPCC for the purpose of bidding the project. Respond to questions from prospective bidders as necessary. Prepare addenda as necessary. Prepare a tabulation of bids and make a recommendation of award for construction Final project drawings, project manual with technical specifications, and cost estimates will be completed in 2022, the bid letting is to be in the fall of 2023 due to the anticipation of a significant amount of utility work needing to be completed in 2023 prior to the construction beginning spring 2024. The Engineering Division will administer the Project for the City. All information that the City has relating to the project will be made available to the selected firm All information submitted becomes the property of the City of Topeka. Proposals received after the time indicated in this request will not be considered. Proposals are to be limited to a total of 10 (ten) pages (not counting front and back cover, cover letter, table of contents, and section dividers) using margins not smaller than 0.75 and font size not smaller than 10.
