The purpose of this contract is to upgrade an aging 54-year old wastewater pumping station to increase its reliability, to eliminate some mechanical issues and increase the overall efficiency of the station though new electrical controls, to improve ventilation and to update the cosmetic appearance of the exterior. 1. Removal and encapsulation of asbestos-containing ventilation ducting in two places: a short section inside of the wet well compartment and a longer section of duct inside of the control room that exits the roof. Two existing short pieces of vent piping contained within existing concrete bulkheads will be left in place and capped at the ends for permanent entombment. 2. Replacement of the existing pump Motor Control Center with a new 480V power panel, 208V lighting panel and lighting panel transformer. 3. Replacement of the existing variable frequency drives; pump control panel and instrumentation controls (modular controllers, level transducers, backup floats) with constant speed motor, pump control panel with integrated controller, across-the-line starters and dual pen circular chart recorder. 4. Removal of the existing 15Hp pump motors, driveshafts and pump volute bases and replacement with new, close-coupled pump motors and bases. Three shaft holes in the control room floor are to be filled in.
