Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The scope of work for this project shall consist of milling Kilgore Road to a depth of 2 inches and resurfacing with 4EML at 220#/SYD, curb repairs, sidewalk ramp and ADA upgrades, and structure rebuild and adjust to enable proper flow and levelness to the road. Full depth repair will be necessary as described in the plan documents (Appendix C) and as marked out by the engineer. Work will be coordinated with City of Portage and City of Kalamazoo to ensure minimal impact to residents and businesses. Work for the Kilgore Resurfacing Project shall be broken into the following phases: 1) Mobilization 2) Sidewalk Work 3) Resurfacing Preparatory Work 4) Resurfacing 5) Final Structure Adjustments. After Contractor s receipt of Notice to Proceed work shall start no later than 10 days thereafter unless agreed to by the Engineer. Bid bond/guarantee: the bid must be accompanied by a bid bond which shall not be less than five (5%) percent of the total amount of the bid. No bid will be considered unless it is accompanied by the required guarantee. The bid guarantee shall ensure the execution of the bid and award, and the furnishing of a performance bond and a labor and material bond (a and b below) by the successful bidder. (contractors note: a cashier's or certified check in lieu of a bid bond is not acceptable.) A performance bond shall be furnished in the full amount of the contract ensuring the City of faithful performance of all the provisions of the contract, and the satisfactory performance of any equipment required hereunder. The bond shall also ensure the City against defective workmanship and/or materials. A labor and material (payment) bond shall be furnished for the period covered by the contract, in the full amount of the contract for the protection of labor and material suppliers and sub-contractors. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and waive informalities and minor irregularities in bids received.
