**As of September 23, 2020, the project is already been awarded and the project will start within the next 60 days.** The City of Shelby is accepting bids on a culvert replacement project located near 1405 June Rd. in Shelby, NC. The project consists of the replacement of 60 linear feet of 30" CMP pipe with headwall, 1 Catch Basin and 16 linear feet of 24" RCP. Contractor's Responsibilities: - Remove approximately 60 linear feet of existing 30" CMP pipe and replace with 30" double wall HDPE pipe in the road. The new pipe shall be bedded with wash stone. A precast concrete headwall with wing walls (NCDOT 838.80) shall be installed on the upstream side of the pipe. - Remove existing catch basin and replace with 4' X 4' precast open throat catch basin (NCDOT 840.04). The two new pipes and an existing 12" RCP pipe shall be tied into the new catch basin. - Remove approximately 16 linear feet of existing 24" RCP and replace with 30" double wall HDPE pipe. The new pipe shall be bedded with wash stone. - The street cut shall be backfilled with at least 8" of compacted ABC stone and 4" of asphalt. All edges shall be clean cut with a saw. - Contractor will be responsible for cleaning up and disposing of all construction materials from the project site upon completion of the project. All work completed as part of this project will carry a one (1) year warranty beginning at the completion of the project. A utility locate must be called in prior to work commencing. After mobilization, the project must be complete in 14 days (weather days will be accessed as needed). Liquidated damages in the amount of $500 per day will be enforced for work not completed by the applicable deadline.
