General Contractors are the only contractors permitted and required to prequalify to bid for the Project. Subcontractors are not required to prequalify. "Contractors" as used herein refers to general contractors. Only those Contractors who prequalify to bid in accordance with SMCPS's Request for Qualifications and Prequalification Process will be eligible to submit a construction bid for the Project as listed herein. Any Contractors who submit construction bids without prequalifying shall be deemed non-responsible bidders, and any bid submitted without prequalification in accordance with the prequalification process shall be deemed nonresponsive for the Contractor's failure to prequalify. Contractors wishing to Prequalify to Bid may obtain a Prequalification Package from: eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA) via the website emma.maryland.gov or from the SMCPS Design & Construction website. Prequalification Packages may be requested by email directed to cwking@smcps.org and must be requested at least five (5) business days prior to the Deadline for Submission. Requests must identify the project for which the Prequalification Package is being requested. Engineering and control of asbestos containing materials (ACM); Abatement of interior and exterior caulk and window glazing compound Selective structural demolition Removal and replacement of exterior hollow metal doors and hardware Removal and replacement of aluminum framed entrances and storefronts Removal and replacement of aluminum windows Window glazing Major work is intended to occur during the school's unoccupied summer months. Construction is anticipated to begin by June 2021. Substantial Completion is anticipated by August 2021. The overall cost of construction of the Project is estimated to be in the range of $400,000.
