Construction is expected to begin Summer 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Village of Niles will be accepting qualifications for providing: Professional Services for Melvina Avenue Improvement Concept Design Phase II Roadway Design Watermain Improvement Design. The Village plans to rehabilitate Melvina Avenue from Touhy Avenue to Gross Point Road. The project is programed for TIF and water funding sources. The Village also intends to replace a portion of the existing Melvina Avenue watermain from Touhy Avenue to Gross Point Road. The watermain work will be an advance contract funded with local funds. The Village has purchased the adjacent Grainger property and has a good working relationship with the businesses in the area. There may be an opportunity to place the watermain in an easement outside the western Right of Way line. There are three primary services required for this Project: 1. Concept Design and Traffic Engineering 2. Watermain Improvement Design 3. Phase II Roadway Design 4. Right-of-Way Negotiation and Acquisition Support The respondent must submit a team covering all three portions of the scope of work. The total project construction budget, excluding design and professional fees, is: $1,500,000. The budget breakdown is as follows: Roadway Improvements: $900,000 Watermain Replacement: $600,000 As of November 12, 2020 this project is seeking qualifications for designer. Engineering Contract approval is expected in January 2021. Concept design will be complete by April 30, 2021. Phase II roadway design is projected to start early April 2021 and be completed by late October 2021. The schedule may be delayed based on redevelopment activities. Roadway letting is scheduled for summer 2022 or may be delayed to coincide with Touhy Triangle Redevelopment. The watermain design is expected to be slated for late spring 2022 bidding and mid summer 2022 construction.
