e project's scope of work entails the rehabilitation and re-purposing of an abandoned school and attached gymnasium for use as a new branch of the county library serving Cape May City and nearby portions of adjacent municipalities.Preservation work entails the building's surviving historic building fabric, including wood windows and doors (restoration and replication), exterior masonry restoration (cleaning, raking and repointing of exterior brick) and interior finishes (plaster, wood floors and pressed metal ceiling panels). New construction includes a modest one-story addition, a mezzanine, a new elevator, flat roof replacement and the sensitive introduction of all new systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire suppression). All proposed work shall meet the requirements of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Bid documents are not available for review at this time. Only contractors that have been determined to be qualified will be allowed to bid on this project.
