Casey Burch from LCM Architects provided a general description of the project. Primary objective of the project is to replace 50 year old piping in primary campus building in Wings A through E. The facility is all under one roof. The primary architecture scope is to support the plumbing replacement effort. This will require removing and reinstalling or replacing ceilings throughout the building as well as cutting and patching work. It's important the GC carefully review the plumbing drawings to understand the routing of piping to develop a detailed schedule and phasing plan through the active spaces. Since the wet walls will be demolished for new risers, the toilet rooms will be completely renovated with new finishes and fixtures to bring the finishes up to a more modern aesthetic. When visiting the facility, the A/E suggests visiting the F Wing toilet rooms renovated in 2014 as they were used as a model for design of the toilet rooms for this project. Many of the existing toilet rooms are inaccessible. The layouts will be revised so all toilet rooms will be accessible. Doors are being eliminated for safety and health benefits, so new walls will be provided to restrict sightlines. In addition to the toilet rooms there will also be work associated with plumbing fixtures in the locker rooms, gym, and natatorium. Phasing may allow approximately 1 to 2 stacks of toilet rooms to be shut down at a time. GSU requires enough toilet facilities be provided to occupants. Occupant load of the building may impact quantity of toilet rooms that may be shutdown at a time.
