The launder cover system shall consist of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) hinged covers that prevent sunlight from reaching the secondary clarifier ledge, weirs, baffles and effluent trough. They must freely and easily open to allow clear access for inspection and cleaning. The launder cover system will be firmly bolted in place to the clarifier. Materials used must resist corrosion. Handles, hinges, fasteners and anchors must be 304SS - stainless steel. The FRP covers must include UV (Ultraviolet) inhibitors for long-term durability in bright sunlight. Cover color will be preferably white, but off-white or light gray are also acceptable. All FRP material must be a minimum of 1/4 " thick MAINTENANCE AND GUARANTEE BOND: The successful bidder will also be required to furnish a Maintenance and Guarantee Bond for the total project value, prior to final payment for a period of one (1) year for labor and one (1) year for materials from the date of final completion. Contractor agrees, as a condition for submitting a bid, that this project will be to substantial completion in 15 days. The contractor agrees to commence work on the date specified in a written "Notice to Proceed" by the City. Such "Notice to Proceed" will be issued at the pre-construction conference. The contractor must be able to mobilize and begin construction no later than 7 calendar days after notification and complete the project by the time limit specified in the "Notice to Proceed."
