The work consists principally of providing bonds, labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for the pumping and barging of dredge material from McDuffie and Pinto Terminals. In the event that an escort is desired please provide a minimum 24 hour notice. No same day escorts will be provided. All bidders are encouraged to carefully examine the site of the proposed work and to thoroughly review the contract requirements prior to the submission of a bid proposal. Each bidder shall satisfy oneself as to the character, quality, and quantities of work to be performed, and as to the requirements of the proposed contract. The submission of a proposal shall be proof that the bidding Contractor has made such examination and is satisfied as to the conditions to be encountered in performing the work and as to the requirements of the proposed Contract. All bidding Contractors must hold a current license from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama with the classification being H/RR: Heavy & Railroad Construction, H/RR-S: Heavy & Railroad Construction - Earthwork, or H/RR-S: Heavy & Railroad Construction - Dredging, Levees, and Dikes, H/RR-S: Heavy & Railroad Construction - Dredging. In addition, the Contractor must provide documented experience with a similar project in terms of size, scope and equipment use. A Guarantee will be required with each bid as follows: At least five (5%) percent of the amount bid, but in no event more than Ten Thousand ($10,000) Dollars, shall be furnished in the form of a certified check or bid bond payable to the Alabama State Port Authority. A Performance Bond in an amount not less than the sum bid will be required at the signing of the contract and, in addition, a bond in an amount not less than One Hundred (100%) percent of the contract price, insuring payment of all labor and material. No bid will be considered unless the bidder, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properly qualified to submit a proposal for this work in accordance with all applicable laws of the State of Alabama. This shall include evidence of holding a current license as required from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama. Also, non-residents of the State must show evidence of having qualified with the Secretary of State to do business in Alabama. The right is reserved, as the interest of the Alabama State Port Authority may require, to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities in bids received.
